Childcare for Back to School Night

The Beresford Rec Center will offer childcare during our back to school night at Meadow Heights! Back to school night is a parents-only night, so if you do not use Beresford, then please make some sort of arrangements.


The schedule for BTS Night can be found in the Thursday Folder.

Please note, that registration and emergency forms need to be done in person at the Rec Center ahead of time, so drop off can be done quickly. The childcare offered begins at the same time as the lower grades’ BTS night, so you will want to fill out all necessary paperwork beforehand to minimize any delays.

Fingerprinting for Volunteers at the Ice Cream Social

Meadow Heights Families,

We are pleased to let you know that you a representative from Live Scan will be at the Ice Cream Social this year. Live Scan is a registered company by the San Mateo/Foster City School District that takes fingerprints from individuals and puts them on file.

Let me tell you why this is useful – each time a parent/guardian volunteer takes a child (that is not their own) off campus for, let’s say, a field trip, that adult volunteer must have fingerprints on file (along with updated car insurance info). If we have enough adult volunteers with their fingerprints on file with the district, we can eliminate the high expense of bus transportation to field trips. This will be a large cost saving measure!

In order to eliminate the need for you to take the extra step to locate a Live Scan location, we are bringing Live Scan to you!

The cost for the fingerprinting is $47.00. A check can be made out to Meadow Heights PTA (and cash is accepted as well).

The fingerprints are active with the San Mateo/Foster City School District through Middle School. It is also important to note that parent volunteer fingerprints may also be needed for your child’s sporting or scouting activities as well (so this isn’t just for school purposes).

Just to be clear:

Who: Fingerprinting for adults (not children)

Why: Fingerprints are needed on file by the district for parent volunteers who are driving children to off site events

When: Friday, 8/25 at the Ice Cream Social (starting at 5:30 PM)

Where: Meadow Heights Elementary School

Cost: $47.00 per adult (Cash or check only. NO CREDIT CARDS)
(make checks payable to Meadow Heights PTA)

***Please consider getting this service done as Meadow Heights can save a considerable amount of money on
Field Trips IF we have enough parent volunteers!***

Important Safety Message



Dear Meadow Heights Families,

This week you should have received a voice mail from me asking for your assistance in spreading the word to drive safely around our campus. It seems as though we have some drivers who are forgetting to follow basic traffic guidelines.

Please DO NOT  park in any RED ZONES or CROSSWALKS  

Parking in these restricted areas obstructs the view of children crossing the street. We have had several occasions recently with students almost being hit by cars not following basic safety traffic rules.

If you would like to help keep our students and family members safe, I encourage you to volunteer one day at a minimum as a crossing guard. We could benefit from a crossing guard at the crosswalk on Parkside Way and Dolores Street each morning and afternoon. You can make a difference volunteering one day a week, or even once a month.

Crossing Guard Times Needed

Monday-Friday 8:10am-8:20am  and 8:20am-8:50am
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 3:00pm-3:20pm
Wednesday 12:20pm-12-40pm

Site Council Nominations Due


 What is School Site Council?

The School Site Council is a decision making group of elected people consisting of school staff and parents who work together focusing on a school site plan.  The school site plan describes our curriculum and the council sets goals for each school year.  To support these goals, the council develops an annual budget based on state funding.  Communication is maintained with the district regarding their guidelines, core curriculum, and budget planning.  Discussion of the school site plan, the school’s annual programs, updates from other committees working at the school, and most effective use of funds are some of the major topics undertaken during the year.  Decisions are made on a consensus basis with voting used as necessary to keep the council moving forward.

Responsibilities of a SSC Member

  1. Able to focus on the well-being of all the students at Meadow Heights.
  2. Able to work as a team with other council members through joint decision making.
  3. Able to attend regularly scheduled meetings (generally the 3rd or 4th Tuesday of the month).
  4. Commitment to being an active participant and an ability/willingness to represent the total parent community.

What is the Time Commitment for a Member?

The number of meetings varies from year to year.  Generally, the council meets approximately seven times during the school year on a Tuesday after school for about an hour.

The Meadow Heights School Site Council is accepting nominations for three parent positions. These positions are for a two year term.  If you have further questions, please feel free to contact Kenyetta Cook, Principal at 312-7566.  If you are interested or would like to nominate someone, please print out the School Site Nomination Form and return it to the office no later than 3 P.M. on Thursday, September 25, 2014.

The first School Site Council Meeting will be September 30 at 3:30 in room 6.
