Back to School Night Tuesday Sept 9

Back to School Night will be on TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 9th from 6:30 – 8:15

The schedule for BTS Night is in the Back to School Letter from Ms. Cook that went out in this week’s TH Folder.

The PTA invites you to visit the library/computer lab during this time for refreshments and a chance to learn about volunteer opportunities.

** Remember – Back to School Night is for Parents and Teachers.**

The school asks that you DO NOT bring your children with you.

Arrangements have been made with the Beresford Rec Center for childcare during this time. To take advantage of this, you must register and pay the Rec Center.  Learn more about this in the TH Folder or by reading the BTS NIGHT CHILDCARE FLYER

Welcome Back Letter From Our PTA Co-Presidents

Dear Meadow Heights Families,                                                                                                                                                                August 2014

Welcome to the upcoming first day of school! Whether you’re a new or returning family, we hope you had an enjoyable summer and are excited for the start of another school year. We would like to extend a sincere welcome to those of you who are new to our school. We are so glad you are a part of our community! We hope you will find Meadow Heights to be a place of learning and friendships. We have a long tradition of educational excellence combined with an outstanding faculty and a dedicated parent community.

On behalf of the entire Meadow Heights PTA Executive Board we would like to invite you to learn more about the PTA and what we help do to make Meadow Heights such a special place to be.

We can start by introducing ourselves to you as the Co-Presidents of the Meadow Heights PTA for the 2014-2015 school year.

Renee Jewell has been an active member of the PTA at Meadow Heights since 2009.  She has served as PTA Treasurer and Executive Vice President as well as on several committees. She has twin boys entering 5th grade and a daughter entering into 3nd grade.

Julie Kaprielian also has been an active member of the PTA since coming to Meadow Heights in 2009. She has served as PTA Auditor and on the School Site Council, as well as on various committees. She has a daughter entering into 5th grade.

We will work together with our principal and the Meadow Heights PTA Executive Board to accomplish the goals of the PTA.  Those goals are to provide Meadow Heights with resources (volunteers and funds) and programs which extend our teacher’s and staffs’ educational efforts to enrich the experiences of our students. We know we are lucky to be able to offer so many exciting programs for our children that make their experience here so unique. The PTA has already been brainstorming over the summer to help make next year an even more enriching year for our students, faculty and parents.

The PTA is quite fortunate to have many talented parents and volunteers throughout the school.  We could not achieve our success without the help of these dedicated people. We would be thrilled to have you join the PTA this year to help us make our children’s time here extraordinary.

By joining the PTA you help support programs the PTA funds, such as:

  • Library and Technology
  • Art in Action
  • Classroom Music
  • Educational Field Trips and Assemblies
  • Peacemaker Training
  • Classroom Enrichment Programs and Supplies
  • Community Events and Education Nights

The PTA can accomplish great things together this year with your help and support. You’ll also have a lot of fun along the way too! You can meet old friends and make new ones at our Welcome Back Coffee on the first day of school in the LGI right after drop-off. Then you can help us welcome Kindergarten families and celebrate the start of the school year at the Ice Cream Social at 5:30pm on September 12 at Beresford Park. We look forward to seeing you again at our first PTA meeting of the year on September 18 at 6:00pm in the LGI.  For your reference, the reverse side of this letter has a PTA calendar for the remainder of 2014 showing some important dates not to be missed. Be sure to mark your calendars!

Please feel free to contact us both at [email protected] if you have any questions or comments. We welcome your input and look forward to meeting you and working with you. Let’s have a great year together!

PTA Fundraising Wrap-Up 2013-2014

The end of the school year is here, and we would like to say THANK YOU to all who helped make it a successful one.  Without the help of volunteer hours and expertise, our PTA would not be able to provide the experiences we do to our children, teachers and staff.

New Chair Jen Buckley and her team of volunteers recently wrapped up the Spring Stampede, and we are pleased to announce it brought in over $10,000.  The Crab Feed & Auction held in February was once again our largest moneymaker, bringing in over $48,000.  Combined with your generous contributions to our annual direct donation drive, and other fundraisers throughout the year we were able to reach an impressive amount of just over $100,000 for the year.

Your child may not realize this, but he or she participates everyday in some sort of program or activity made possible by the PTA.  Whether it is P.E., Art in Action, Music, Library, Computer Lab, Soul Shoppe, or many other types of assemblies, our students’ experiences in these areas are enriched and enhanced with the funds you so generously have helped raise.

Looking forward to next school year, we are in need of committed volunteers if we are to have an annual Auction Event again. It helps if the planning process gets underway in the summer, and at this point we are in need of a Chair(s), as well as anyone interested in helping on the committee.  It takes a large team to put something like this together, and there are many areas in which one can help. It’s also a lot of fun! If you are interested in chairing or helping, please contact Kristi Puls at [email protected].

The PTA wishes all Meadow Heights families and staff a wonderful summer! Enjoy!
